Second graders from Westwood Elementary are currently raising funds for the training of Phoebe, a puppy who is being trained as a mobility assistance dog through New Life Mobility Assistance Dogs.

WJ Aldermen Discuss Property Development
A developer is looking at the possibility of purchasing the Arby’s property in West Jefferson as well as the adjoining property and is considering placing a new CVS store there, according to Interim Town Manager Kathy Howell.

CVS Pharmacy Broken Into: WJPD Seeks Information
An alarm went off last Monday morning on Oct. 2nd around 3 a.m. at CVS when someone broke into the store and Office Nathan Reed of the West Jefferson Police Department was on the scene almost immediately, according to Detective William Craig of the WJPD.

Local consumers and businesses should be cautious of any non-local business offering to provide services for them such as concrete, paving or other jobs, according to Detective William Craig of the West Jefferson Police Department.

Ashe County School Bus Involved In Accident
Donnie R. Johnson, superintendent of Ashe County Schools, issued a press release on Oct. 4th concerning the recent school bus accident in late September.
